Meet Dr. Silverstein
Lee Silverstein is a highly accomplished senior executive, lecturer, author, advisor, and consultant with more than 20 years of success within dentistry, healthcare, education, sports, telecommunications, science, and pharmaceuticals. He has proven his ability to manage multiple and diverse roles while growing business opportunities with his out-of-the-box thinking. He leverages his extensive experience to cross multiple industries, spanning numerous verticals. His areas of expertise include fund raising, angel investment, M&A and reverse mergers, IPOs, startups, as well as publishing and teaching.
Since 1991, Lee has held the title of Chief Executive Officer with Kennestone Periodontics, a company he founded and grew into five offices, two outpatient facilities, and a teaching center. He oversees the day-to-day management of the business, including finance, operations and talent recruitment. Lee has a proven track record of assembling and developing teams, enhancing individual strengths, and encouraging others to reach their full potential to enable personal, team, and business success.
As Instructor and Professor at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University since 1986, Lee provides instruction to dentistry students. He established the Silverstein Periodontal Graduate Research Endowment Fund to allow opportunities for up-and-coming dental professionals.
Concurrent to those positions, Lee serves as Consultant, Advisor, Lecturer, Television Host and Coach to a multitude of organizations. He is the host of the national medical/dentistry program Info-Med, the co-founder and lecturer at Advanced Dental Education (ADE) Seminars, the author of four prominent dentistry textbooks, and a lacrosse coach, where he successfully built a sports team from scratch to participate at a national level.
As Chief Executive Officer of Kennestone LLC from 2001 to 2015, Lee founded this real estate management company and managed all aspects of startup including finance, marketing, and business development.
Between 2000 and 2006 Lee held the title of Chief Executive Officer with Team Link Sports Inc. Originally a Member of the Board, Lee was recruited to the role of CEO to oversee the turnaround and restructure of the company. He built the business into an attraction acquisition and sold components of the company to a range of buyers, the most notable being ESPN.
In addition to his executive career, Lee has extensive board and advisory experience. Some of his past experience includes Board of Directors – Callypigian LLC (2011-2016); Board of Directors – Kennestone Periodontics LLC (1991-2016); Board of Directors – Imagix Dental LLC (2000-2015); Board of Directors – Imagix Management Corporation (2000-2015); Chair – Kenneston LLC (2001-2015); Board of Directors – Discover Dental Surgery (2005-2014); and Board of Directors – ADE Seminars LLC (2007-2014). He has served on the Editorial Boards of nine different scientific journals, and on the Clinical Advisory boards of multiple organizations. Lee is Clinical Advisor to the CRA, a world-renown organization which provides consumer reports and educational resources for the dentistry industry.
A Fellow of Pierre Fauchard Academy, the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Lee is member of a range of organizations including the International Association for Dental Research, the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity, and the National Association of Corporate Directors.
Lee received the Apex Award of Excellence for Principles of Dental Suturing (2000); first place in the National Gold Ink Competition for Principles of Dental Suturing (2000); and First Honorable Mention, Balint Orban Memorial Award, AAP (1988). He held the Distinction of 100 Top Dentists each year from 2005 to 2009 and was listed as a Who’s Who-Life Member of Professional Business National Registry (1998-1999) and a Who’s Who-Life Member of Professional Business National Registry (2000).
Lee is the contributing author of multiple textbooks, author of 11 textbook chapters, and author of more than 140 scientific articles (refereed journals). He has published four refereed textbooks which have sold more than 300,000 copies worldwide and are recognized as the only textbooks of their kind in the dental industry.
During his career Lee has presented more than 400 lectures and courses. He has been the featured speaker at every major dental event internationally for the past 30 years.
Lee is currently studying for his MBA at the Coles School of Business at Kennesaw State University, a program he began in 2015. He attained his Associate Fellowship Degree at the Medical College of Georgia / American Academy of Implant Dentistry in 1992, his MS in Oral Biology at the School of Graduate Studies, Medical College of Georgia in 1988, his DDS, Doctor of Dental Surgery at Case Western Reserve University in 1986 and his BS from Hofstra University in 1982. He completed his Certificate in Periodontics at the School of Graduate Studies at the Medical College of Georgia in 1988.
